Portraits in the old stone rooms

The windows gave us the light; the building gave us the backdrop. We kept the portraits simple and let both show.

The venue · Skaneateles Creek

History in the walls. Space for a wedding.

The Sinclair was built in 1871 as the Sinclair Chair Factory. Today, the restored stone building is an indoor and outdoor event venue beside Skaneateles Creek, 1.9 miles from Skaneateles village by the venue’s description.

Jill and Nick’s Christmas wedding shows one winter version of it: window-lit portraits against the stone, holiday greenery beside the fireplace and the building after dark. For winter wedding photography in Skaneateles, we plan around the shorter daylight and keep an indoor portrait option ready.

Our planning notes

Planning a winter wedding in the Finger Lakes.

For a December wedding or Christmas celebration at The Sinclair, these are the choices we would discuss when planning your photography and film. We start with daylight, indoor portraits and a little flexibility for the weather.

01 · DAYLIGHT

Protect a winter portrait window.

December daylight goes quickly. We work back from sunset and your ceremony time, leaving a short outdoor option before the light fades. Keep coats nearby and the group photographs organized so everyone can get back inside.

02 · INDOORS

Plan around the tall windows.

The window-lit portraits in Jill and Nick’s gallery show how much the interior can offer. We plan an indoor alternative with the venue, then keep that area clear for a few portraits if the weather changes.

03 · EVENING

Leave a few minutes after dark.

A short evening portrait can look completely different from the daytime photographs. The outdoor fireplace and lit stone facade worked for this wedding. We confirm access, conditions and timing with the venue before planning yours.

Photography + film

One plan for both.

Jill and Nick had photography and film from BlackTie Brothers. When you choose both, we plan around the same timeline and the same people, so the still photographs and the film tell the day together.

THE PORTRAITS

Space to be yourselves.

We give direction when it helps, then leave room for a glance, a laugh and the quieter moments between photographs. A short, useful portrait plan gives you more time with your guests.

THE SOUND

Keep the voices.

We coordinate with the officiant and DJ about microphones and audio before the important moments. Good sound gives the wedding film more than a music track.

THE TIMELINE

Cover the same day together.

Photography and film work from one coverage plan, with time for details, portraits and the celebration. Share your ceremony and reception locations so we can recommend coverage around the day you are planning.
