Timber Banks Wedding Photography & Films
Timber Banks is a golf club and wedding venue on the Seneca River in Baldwinsville, New York, a short drive north of Syracuse: a timber-framed clubhouse with two levels of covered porches, a Grand Ballroom under 22-foot beamed ceilings, a waterside ceremony gazebo and a Jack Nicklaus-designed course that runs right up to the building. BlackTie Brothers has photographed and filmed two weddings here: Taylor and Jake’s, and more recently Kassidy and Tyler’s in September 2026, which is still being edited. From the venue. Timber Banks describes itself as a golf club, marina and event venue at 3536 Timber Banks Parkway in Baldwinsville, New York, on the Seneca River, with a Jack Nicklaus-designed championship course and the Persimmons restaurant on the property. For weddings it names a Grand Ballroom with 22-foot ceilings framed in timber beams, fireplaces at each end of the room and a private deck overlooking the 18th hole, a waterside ceremony gazebo available from May through October, a bridal suite, and golf carts to move guests to and from the ceremony site. What we saw. Two weddings in, this is the venue as it photographs. The clubhouse is a timber-framed building with a stone base and two stacked covered porches facing the course, which is why the wedding party lined up along the railings and the couple on the lawn below is the signature picture of the place. Upstairs, the suite has tall windows on the course side and the best morning light in the building. The ballroom runs under dark timber trusses with chandeliers, tall windows down one side and a wood dance floor, and it takes uplighting well without losing the wood. Outside, the fairways open to the west, so the last hour of light lands on the grass right behind the clubhouse, and the river bank is a short cart ride away for family groups.

Taylor & Jake · A July Wedding
Taylor and Jake married on a Saturday in July. Taylor and her bridesmaids got ready in the upstairs suite at Timber Banks; Jake got ready with his groomsmen at a house. The ceremony was at St. Cecilia’s Church in Syracuse, and everyone came back to Timber Banks afterward for cocktail hour on the porches, portraits on the course and a reception in the ballroom that ran late. BlackTie Brothers photographed and filmed the whole day, and their film, further down this page, opens with their engagement session in New York City from the year before.

Our recommendations, drawn from the two weddings above. Access, timing and policies belong to Timber Banks, so where something is theirs to decide we have written it as a question to ask them.
Use the upstairs suite, and the porch outside it.
The suite has tall windows facing the course and the softest light in the building, which is where Taylor’s dress and her window portrait were made. The covered porch outside is a ready-made walk for the wedding party. Ask the venue what time you can get in, whether a second group can get ready on site, and keep the window wall clear of bags and garment racks. Jake got ready elsewhere, so we sent a photographer and a videographer there and kept a team at the venue.
If you marry at a church, plan the trip back.
Taylor and Jake’s ceremony was at St. Cecilia’s in Syracuse, about half an hour from Timber Banks, and the whole party came back afterward. The drive is not dead time for us, it is where the film gets its loosest footage, but it costs daylight. Build the travel into the timeline with a margin, tell us how the wedding party is moving so a camera rides along, and let the venue know when you will arrive so the porches are ready for cocktail hour.
The lawn, the fairway, the river. Ask first.
The picture of the building with everyone on the porches is made from the lawn below; the fairway behind the clubhouse is the sunset spot; the river bank is where we did family groups. A golf cart and a driver from the venue took us out onto the course for Taylor and Jake. Whether that is available, where carts may go while the course is open, and whether a drone may fly are the venue’s decisions, so we ask them for each date rather than promising.
One list, one spot, twenty minutes.
Give us the family groupings in advance and one person on each side who knows everyone. At Timber Banks the river bank and the lawn below the porches both work for large groups, and the porches themselves hold a whole wedding party in one frame. We photograph the groups at the venue right after arrival, while the light is still high, and keep the fairway for the two of you later.
We check the time. The sky is not ours.
The fairways open to the west behind the clubhouse. On Taylor and Jake’s date in July the sun set at 8:43 pm; on Kassidy and Tyler’s, September 19, it set at 7:07 pm, which is during dinner. We look up the time for your date and plan ten minutes on the grass just before it, and we tell your DJ. A clear horizon is never guaranteed, so the plan has a cloudy version too.
The porches are the rain plan for portraits.
The venue lists its waterside gazebo for May through October and the Grand Ballroom indoors. For photographs, the covered porches keep the course in the background with a roof overhead, and the suite windows work in any weather. Ask the venue which space is the wet-weather ceremony alternative and how late that call is made.
Ask when the ballroom will be set.
The empty-room photograph of Taylor and Jake’s reception exists because the room was finished before the doors opened. Ask Timber Banks when the setup will be complete, tell your florist and DJ, and we will photograph and film the room before the doors open.
One timeline, two crafts, clean audio.
When you book photography and film together, we plan one timeline and split up for the moments that happen in two places at once. For toasts and vows we record from our own microphones and, whenever the DJ allows it, a feed from the board, so the film does not depend on the room. The sweetheart table at Timber Banks sits in front of the windows, which is lovely for a speaker and a reason to bring our own light.

Where do the best portraits happen at Timber Banks?
From what we have photographed: the lawn below the two covered porches with the wedding party lined up above, the fairways at sunset, the river bank for family and wedding-party groups, and the upstairs suite windows before the ceremony. Access to the course, a golf cart and a driver are the venue's to grant, so we ask them for your date rather than assuming.
What happens if it rains?
Timber Banks lists its waterside ceremony gazebo for May through October and its Grand Ballroom indoors, and the covered porches give us a dry place for portraits with the course still in the background. We watch the forecast in the last week and arrive with a wet-weather plan for portraits and family photographs. Confirm the venue's own rain plan for the ceremony with them.
